History Museum

The history of Satbayev University is a history of discoveries closely related to our state’s history, its culture and the system of higher education. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in Kazakhstan, the flagship of engineering education in the republic.

The opening of Museum of Military and Labor Glory took place in 1978 on the initiative of University’s veteran Mushtai Batyrbekov with the support of Rector of Kazakh Polytechnic Institute named after V.I. Lenin Abdygappar Ashimov, on the eve of 70th anniversary of University. Later it was transformed into University’s Historical Museum.

The museum's funds number more than three hundred items: photos and documentary materials on the history of its formation, unique personnel, graduates, including 7 Heroes of the Soviet Union, 6 Heroes of Socialist Labor, laureates of Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR, academicians and corresponding members of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, modern activities of University.

Museum’s unique exhibits include:

• Charter of Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute of 1934;

• Drum VIA Dos-Mukassan, 1965;

• Portraits of Rectors, rare photo and film documents about the university.

The archive includes more than a thousand pieces of documents and exhibits. The museum is constantly working hard to find new exhibits and increase the exposure. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions, round tables and seminars.

The museum staff is always happy to welcome visitors and are ready to conduct interesting excursions for anyone interested in the history of the legendary university.
