Water Transportation
Historically, water transportation wasn’t a developed industry in the territory of Kazakhstan. In the old days, there were mostly fishing boats, river rafts carrying cargo, livestock, and people, and small ships. Since the end of the 19th century, the Caspian, Aral, and Balkhash fleets have appeared in Kazakhstan. At first, they mostly consisted of sailing and steam-powered ships. In the 20th century, they were replaced by modern ships with internal combustion engines. Today, the largest ships of Kazakhstan are located in the Caspian Sea. Among them are ships of the Kazakhstan Navy and oil tankers.
