Yurts
Yurts have arguably first appeared during the Saka period. We don’t have much solid evidence of that just yet, but there are depictions and descriptions that might be of the Saka-Scythian yurts. According to scientists, yurts might have evolved from earlier types of forest nomadic hunters’ and herders’ cone-shaped tents (alachik). It happened once the nomads started inhabiting the Eurasian Steppes invented feltmaking. The ability to make felt allowed to cover yurts on the outside. The lack of wood led to the development of portable light-weight wooden frame. The yurts as we know them were born.
