Satbayev University scientists
Graduate of the Tomsk Technological Institute, mining engineer, geologist, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, professor, academician, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and the USSR, laureate of USSR state prizes, outstanding geologist, statesman and public figure, leader of science and industrial development of Kazakhstan, brilliant scientist. Kanysh Satpayev made the training of engineers and technicians his life's work, and in 1934 the first Kazakh mining and metallurgical institute in Kazakhstan (now Satbayev University) was opened in Almaty, which trained engineers. The merits of Kanysh Satpayev, the great son of the great steppe, the scientist who discovered the boundless steppes of Kazakhstan to the whole world, the innumerable underground resources and science in front of the science of Kazakhstan are so huge that his birthday - April 12 - in Kazakhstan began to be celebrated as the Day of Science. It is symbolic that on the same day the World Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics is celebrated. The life and scientific activity of an outstanding scientist will always be an example for the younger generation, striving to connect their lives with geology, mining and metallurgy.
