Horse Harness
Nomads invented the first horse harness about 4-5 thousand years ago. This technology is related to Syntasty (Sintashta) and Botai cultures on the territory of Kazakhstan. Over the millennia, harness technology has gone through many evolutionary changes. And when it came to the Kazakh era, traditional horse harnesses complex reached its highest form in the region of Kazakhstan. Kazakhs invented several types of saddles: Naiman, Argyn, Aday, Uirekbas (duck head), Kurandy (made from pieces), Akbas (white head), Ashamay (children saddle), and others. Kazakh harnesses are also valuable handcraft items. Decorated with silver and precious stones, covered with beautiful traditional ornaments, they belong to the cultural and material heritage of Kazakhs.
