Great Silk Road

Great Silk Road

During the Turkic Era, the infrastructure of the Great Silk Road was greatly improved. Throughout the centuries, trade caravans moved from east to west and from south to north along the territories of the huge Turkic khaganates, which stretched from the Far East to the Crimean peninsula. The Turks established a universal law, trade rules, customs, and order in their khaganates; and provided the opportunity for peaceful and convenient trade throughout Eurasia. Roads, wells, and chains of cities, towns, and caravan-serais were built and maintained in order to make the Silk Road’s transportation infrastructure.
