Abdykappar Ashimovich Ashimov
Kazakh scientist in the field of automated control systems, rector of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, and an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2003).
He was born on January 1, 1937, in the village of Berlik, Kokterek district, Jambyl region.
He graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute with a degree in "Automation of Metallurgical Processes" (1960). He worked there as a senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, head of the department, and scientific director of the problem laboratory "Automated Control Systems". From 1976 to 1985, he was the rector.
He served as the deputy director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1985-1991), the founder and first director of the Institute of Informatics and Control Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1991-1994), and the chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission (from 1995 known as the State Attestation Commission) of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1994-1997).
Since 1997, he has been the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Informatics and Control Problems of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree (1972), became a professor (1973), a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1989), and an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2003). His main scientific fields include:
- The theory of coordinated control of active production systems.
- The statistical theory of automatic systems with dynamic frequency-impulse modulation.
- The theory of automatic control systems with changing configuration.
He is the founder of the Kazakh scientific school in the field of control systems theory and technical cybernetics. Under his scientific supervision, 43 candidates defended their dissertations, and among his students, there are 8 doctors of sciences.
He is the author of over 300 scientific works, including 15 monographs and 15 collections of papers. He has received 15 patents for inventions.
He was awarded the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR in the field of science and technology (1989), the title of Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR (1989), and the orders of the Friendship of Peoples (1981), "Parasat" (December 8, 2006), and "Barys" II degree (2012).
